School & Professional Orientation Platform

Abstract

This project presents a web platform built in collaboration with the Centre Régional d'Orientation Scolaire et Professionnelle Souss Massa.

The platform centralizes announcements, educational institution data, orientation resources, and user questions to support students and professionals exploring education and career pathways in Morocco.

Problem

In Morocco, orientation information is often distributed across documents, announcements, institutions, and informal communication channels. Students need a reliable way to search resources, follow updates, ask questions, and save useful information in one place.

Key Features

Announcements

Stay updated with the latest news on entrance exams (concours), orientation events, and other important announcements related to education and career opportunities.

Higher Education Directory

A searchable and filterable directory of universities and educational establishments, allowing users to explore options by field of study or search directly by institution name.

Resource Library

Access a curated collection of orientation materials providing valuable information about educational institutions and orientation guidance in Morocco. The library includes informative videos, educational documents, and other resources.

Interactive Forum

An interactive forum where students and users can post their questions and receive answers from orientation professionals and website administrators, building a supportive community for educational and career guidance.

User Accounts

Users can create personal accounts, allowing them to save their preferred resources and institutions to a favorites list for quick and easy access. Personalized profiles enhance the user experience and provide a customized platform for educational and career planning.

Method

Ideation and Planning

The project began with a series of collaborative meetings with the director of the Centre Régional d'Orientation Scolaire et Professionnelle Souss Massa. These sessions were crucial in defining the project's scope, objectives, and key features. We focused on understanding the needs of students and the center's goals to create a truly useful platform.

Design Phase

To visualize the ideas and features discussed during the ideation phase, we created mockups and wireframes using Figma. This step allowed us to refine the user interface and user experience design before starting the development process.

By presenting these visual representations to stakeholders, we were able to gather feedback early on and make necessary adjustments, ensuring that the platform’s layout was intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with the needs of its users.

Backend Development

The backend of the platform was developed using Laravel, with a focus on maintainability and future contribution from other developers.

This phase involved:

• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Setting up database schemas
• Implementing authentication and authorization systems
• Thorough testing of all API endpoints

Frontend Implementation

For the frontend, we utilized Vue.js coupled with Tailwind CSS. This combination allowed us to:

• Create a responsive interface
• Implement complex interactions smoothly
• Ensure fast loading times and optimal performance

Admin Dashboard

Recognizing the importance of regularly updating content on the platform, we developed an admin dashboard that allows administrators to manage the site's information easily. The dashboard was designed with a focus on usability, providing admins with tools to update announcements, manage educational institutions, and oversee forum interactions.

Throughout the development process, we maintained a focus on creating a scalable, maintainable, and user-centric platform that would serve as a valuable resource for students and educators alike.

Outcome

The platform launched successfully and became a trusted resource for educational and career guidance in Morocco. We received positive feedback from users, professionals, and the Centre Régional d'Orientation Scolaire et Professionnelle Souss Massa.
